JAKARTA - Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were officially inaugurated as President and Vice President of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term of service.

Prabowo announced that there were 48 ministers and 5 ministerial-level officials in his cabinet.

"With the agreement of our coalition chairmen, we name this cabinet the Red and White Cabinet," said Prabowo Subianto when announcing the composition of the cabinet for the period 2024-2029, last Sunday.

Previously, information related to the number of Prabowo ministries had been widely discussed. A number of parties consider Prabowo's fat cabinet to have a new burden on the government.

Responding to that, Hendarsam Marantoko, the General Chair of LISAN who is also a Legal Practitioner, opened his voice. According to him, the establishment of a fat cabinet is Prabowo's strategy to streamline the ministry's duties.

"The issue of a fat cabinet needs to be straightened out. If what is meant by the fat Cabinet is an increase in new volumes that are not important, it is clear that it is not necessary", he said.

"Meanwhile, what Pak Prabowo is doing is streamlining the ministry's task posture so that ministers are more focused on one relevant job. Those are two different terms of terminology, you know," he continued.

According to Hendarsam, the large number of Prabowo-Gibran cabinets was the result of the ministry's downsizing of duties.

If previously one ministry had overseen several director-general. Now it will be more accompanied, there will be a separation into a new ministry.

For example, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights which is divided into two ministries, the legal ministry, and the Ministry of Human Rights.

"In the field of law alone it is so complex, there is a Director General of Legislation, the Director General of General Legal Administration, the Director General of Corrections, the Director General of Immigration, the Director General of intellectual property, plus the Director General of Human Rights", he added.

As a result of the many burdens of duty in one ministry, the minister did not focus on one job.

"Labor people will judge that Pak Prabowo formed a fat cabinet, in fact the posture change occurred due to the downsizing of the ministry's duties" closed Hendarsam.
