West Pasaman MUI Calls The Spread Of Religion Understanding By 7 Deviant Foreigners

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra confirmed that the spread of religious understanding by foreign nationals (WNA) who had been arrested by the police deviated from Islamic teachings.

The chairman of the West Pasaman MUI, Darmansyah, emphasized that there are only two basic places for Islam, namely the word of Allah in the Qur'an and the sunnah of the Prophet SAW.

They emphasize that there is not the slightest basis to believe in dreams in religion, especially in Islam.

Therefore, the Ministry of Religion and MUI asked the public not to trust the dream anymore, because dreams cannot be used as references in religious beliefs.

MUI emphasized that the belief held by the seven foreigners who were secured was a belief that deviated from Islamic teachings.

His party also emphasized several important points, including that public reports related to alleged deviant sects were acknowledged by the party concerned and MUI concluded that these beliefs were heretical and deviant.

In addition, MUI rejects the presence of foreigners such as Osama Altaaf, Nasar, and his colleagues who spread understanding of the emergence of Imam Mahdi who is claimed to be Muhammad bin Qosim, a Pakistani citizen.

MUI urges Muslims not to be influenced by this understanding, not to easily believe in claims whose sources are unclear and not to take actions that violate the law or take legal action on their own.

"Muslims must always be critical and continue to review the problems of the end of the day through clear sources, namely the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. They also ask the authorities to be proactive in tracing related parties and anticipating the spread and emergence of deviant understandings," he said.

Seven foreign nationals were previously detained at Wisma Bancah Tarok, Jorong Kampung Cubanak, Nagari Lingkuang Aua Timur, Pasaman District for allegedly spreading deviant sects.

The West Pasaman Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) also held a clarification meeting on Friday (18/10)

This meeting aims to follow up on the alleged spread of this deviant religious understanding.

During the meeting, an Indonesian citizen (WNI) who claimed to be a follower of the false Imam Mahdi sect in West Pasaman finally converted and apologized.

This apology was witnessed directly by the communication forum for the sub-district leadership, MUI Pasaman Barat and other related parties.

The identities of the seven foreigners who were arrested were AK (6), Priya Kurji (37), MA (1), K (3), Krilan (39), and S (8) who came from England, and Osama (35) who came from Norway.
