JAKARTA The entry of close people or loyalists of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as a ministerial candidate in Prabowo Subianto's cabinet is considered an effort to perpetuate Jokowi's influence in the new government while at the same time ensuring that Gibran Rakabuming Raka is not just a spare tire.

According to political observer Undip, Yoga Putra Prameswari, the entry of Jokowi loyalists such as Bahlil Lahadalia and Pratikno is an indication that the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia is worried, to ensure that big projects are continued by Prabowo and Gibran get a big role.

"For example, about IKN. It is important how Jokowi wants to ensure that Prabowo will continue the IKN development process. Because if it is not continued, of course it will become the second Hambalang and can be a black record for Jokowi," he said, Sunday, October 20, 2024.

In addition, indications of Jokowi's involvement in the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet format are also reflected in irregularities in the summoning of ministerial candidates. This is because usually the ministerial candidates are audited by the elected president after the inauguration.

"Actually, this cannot be separated from Jokowi's jokes because he wants to make sure he still has control in the cabinet later, by ensuring that some of his close people are included in the Prabowo- Gibran cabinet," Yoga added.

He revealed that the presence of people close to Jokowi in Prabowo's cabinet has the potential to present various problems, including split loyalty to Jokowi and Prabowo. If this happens, there will most likely be a cabinet reshuffle in the near future.

Yoga predicts that Jokowi loyalists will be allowed to enjoy power for at least one year in the Prabowo-Gibran regime. The reason is, as the new president, Prabowo is certainly reluctant if his ministers show loyalty to Jokowi more.

"In the early stages, Prabowo still followed some requests from Jokowi as a form of reciprocity in the presidential election. But after a year, I think Jokowi loyalists can be eliminated by Prabowo," he said.
