This Sunday Morning Jakarta's Air Quality Is In The Unhealthy Category, The Fourth Worst In The World

JAKARTA - Air quality in Jakarta on Sunday morning is categorized as unhealthy or can cause damage to plants or aesthetic value.

In addition, Jakarta is ranked fourth as the city with the worst air in the world.

According to the air quality monitoring site IQ Air monitored by Antara, on Sunday at 06.08 WIB, air quality in DKI Jakarta was categorized as unhealthy with 154 referring to PM2.5 assessment with a concentration value of 60 micrograms per cubic meter.

That much concentration is equivalent to 12 times the annual air quality guide value of the World Health Organization (WHO). PM 2.5 is an air particle that is small in size from 2.5 microns (micrometers).

The site also recommends air conditions in Jakarta, namely for people to avoid outdoor activities, if they are outdoors, wear a mask, then close the window to avoid dirty outside air.

Meanwhile, from the same data, the worst air quality city in the world is first in Lahore (Pakistan) at 447, second in Delhi (India) at 270, third in Kamparala (Uganda) at 173 and fifth in Kuwait City (Kuwait) at 158.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) had launched an integrated air quality monitoring platform as a result of monitoring at 31 points of the Air Quality Monitoring Station (SPKU) spread across the metropolitan city.

From the SPKU, then the data obtained is displayed through the air quality monitoring platform as a refinement of the existing ones and in accordance with the applicable standards nationally.

This page also displays data from 31 SPKUs in Jakarta that integrate data from SPKUs belonging to DLH Jakarta, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia and Vital Strategis.

Thus, data regarding air quality in Jakarta can be presented more comprehensively.
