Survey: Electability Of Melki Lakalena-Johanis Superior In The NTT Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The results of a survey released by the Voxpol Center recorded the electability of the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) number 02, Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena-Johanis Asadoma (Melki-Johni) ahead of other pairs in the 2024 NTT gubernatorial election.

Meanwhile, Melki-Johni's electability received 37.3 percent, occupying the first position. The second position was pair number 01, Yohanis Fransiskus Lema-Jane Natalia Suryanto with 33.8 percent. In third position pair number 03 Simon Petrus Kamlasi-Adrianus Garu (Siaga).

"In an open question, Pak Melki and Johni got 37.3 percent and were ranked first," said Voxpol researcher M. Erfa Redhani in a survey release statement, quoted Friday, October 18.

Erfa said, for the electability of the candidate for governor personally, Melki was superior to others. Based on the findings of the Voxpol Center, Melki's electability was 36.0 percent.

"In an open question for the candidate for Governor of East Nusa Tenggara, Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena excels with 36 percent electability in first place, followed by Yohanis Fransiskus Lema (30.4 percent) in second place and Simon Petrus Kamlasi (15.2 percent) in third place," Erfa explained.

Likewise with the electability of the candidate for deputy governor Johanis Asadoma. According to the Voxpol Center findings, Johanis' electability was recorded at 24.8 percent.

"If we ask about representatives, Pak Johanis gets 24.8 percent," he said.

The Voxpol Center survey was conducted for 10 days, from 5 October 14, 2024. The population of this survey is all Indonesian citizens who live in the province of East Nusa Tenggara and have the right to choose (to have an ID card), when this survey was conducted.

The sample comes from 22 regencies in East Nusa Tenggara province which are proportionally distributed based on the total population. Then, the number of respondents was 1,200 with a portion of 50 percent of men and 50 percent of women.

Each selected respondent is interviewed with face-to-face methods by an interviewer who has been trained using an Android-based application, i-voxpol.

Then this survey also re-confirmed 20 percent of the total samples randomly by visiting and interviewing selected respondents by the regional coordinator and 10 percent by the central voxpol verifier team by re-interviewing respondents by telephone to ensure data validation.

Sampling using the multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of up to two.83 percent, at a 95 percent confidence level.
