DENPASAR - Airport Manager I Gusti Ngurah Rai Denpasar, Bali, recorded a surge in the number of passengers during the third quarter (July-September) 2024 compared to the previous quarter and the same period the previous year.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab said that during the third quarter of 2024 the number of passengers reached 6.7 million passengers.
"The number of passengers served in the third quarter is the highest compared to the previous quarter period, from January to March or the first quarter, it was recorded that 5.2 million passengers and the second quarter or April to June reached 6 million passengers," said Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, Thursday, October 17.
Syaugi said this spike was also felt when compared between the first, second and third quarters of 2024 and the period in 2023.
If added up during January-September 2024, the movement of passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was 17.98 million passengers, an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period in 2023, which was 15.8 million passengers.
Of the 17.98 million, 10.5 million are international passengers, while 7.4 million or 41 percent are domestic.
Syaugi recorded that growth in the third quarter of 2024 compared to 2023 was also felt in the number of their aircraft movements, where there was an increase of 5 percent and 101,151 movements throughout the third quarter of 2023, to 105,979 in 2024.
"Similar to passenger movements, international routes are higher than domestic, namely 53,567 international route aircraft movements and 52,412 domestic route movements," he said.

Syaugi said this data shows that the operational performance of airports in South Bali in the third quarter experienced a post-pandemic positive recovery rate.
