Faced With Weather And Sea Waves, The Head Of BNPB Departs For Adonara, East Flores Tomorrow Morning

JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo has arrived in Larantuka, East Flores this afternoon. Doni was about to go to the location of the flash flood disaster on Adonara Island, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Actually, Doni arrived in Maumere since this morning, departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport and arrived at Fraks Seda Maumere Airport.

When he wanted to continue his trip to Adonara Island, bad weather prevented him. So, Doni and his entourage of representatives from ministries and other institutions used the land route to Larantuka, to continue their journey to Adonara Island.

"Weather constraints have caused the trip from Maumere to Larantuka to be taken by land. In addition, high waves also delayed the trip from Larantuka to Adonara today," Doni said in his statement.

Therefore, Doni plans to continue his trip to inspect the locations of flash floods and landslides in Adonara tomorrow.

In order to accelerate flood management in NTT, Doni also gave instructions for the deployment of helicopters to provide logistical assistance and other necessities.

"We have ordered to send helicopters to help efforts to accelerate flood management in NTT," said Doni.

In total, there were three helicopters deployed. Doni said two helicopters would be used to distribute logistical assistance in several isolated villages due to closed road access.

Meanwhile, another helicopter transports medical personnel to a number of emergency post points, which are then used to accommodate residents who need emergency help, especially vulnerable groups.

Separately, the Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Raditya Jati said that the data was collected after the officers evacuated until Monday, April 5 at 14.00 WIB.

"Data on deaths are still in the process of data collection and are still guaranteed, we have collected from all affected areas, there are 68 people who died," said Raditya in BNPB Indonesia's Youtube broadcast.

In detail, the highest number of victims died was in East Flores Regency with 44 people, then 11 people died in Lembata Regency, 11 people in Alor Regency, and 2 in Ende Regency.

"This is still dynamic, there are still around 70 people missing, with details of 26 in East Flores, 16 in Lembata, and 28 in Alor)," he said.

The material losses include 25 housing units severely damaged, 114 housing units moderately damaged, 17 housing units washed away, 60 housing units submerged, 743 housing units affected, 40 road access points covered by fallen trees, 5 broken bridges, 1 public facility affected, and 1 sinking ship.

"In addition, 15 people were recorded injured and 938 heads of families or 2,655 people who were affected by the flood," he said.
