JAKARTA - France will start supplying Ukraine, as well as its own armed forces, with the latest kamikaze drones in the coming weeks.

"The first test of munitions operated remotely by France, also known as kamikaze drones, was successfully carried out," said French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu.

"The sovereignty over this key segment for our armed forces has been restored in less than two years. Delivery to Ukraine and our armed forces (will be carried out) in the coming weeks," he continued.

France's military assistance to Ukraine by 2024 is expected to reach around two billion euros (2.18 billion US dollars or around Rp. 33.9 trillion), lower than the initial promise of three billion euros (around Rp. 50.7 trillion), due to the budget deficit, Lecornu said earlier this week.

Delivery of warplanes equipped with air-to-ground missiles will begin in the first three months of 2025, while 2,300 Ukrainian soldiers are currently undergoing training in France, the French defense minister added.
