Initially Reporting The Findings Of Detainees' Cellphones, These KPK Detention Center Officers Finally Received Extortion Of Nearly Rp. 100 Million

JAKARTA - Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Detention Center Officer Asep Anzar admitted that he had received a total of Rp99.6 million indirectly from the results of illegal levies (extortion) by the lurah or coordinator of extortion at the KPK branch detention center in the 2019-2023 period.

Asep, while testifying in a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), Monday, October 14, revealed that the money was given to him to cover his mouth when he found a prisoner who was carrying a cell phone into the detention center.

"But I have returned this money to KPK investigators," Asep said as quoted by ANTARA.

At first, he explained that he found a cell phone while inspecting the KPK Detention Center at the Merah Putih building (K4).

However, when delivering the discovery to seniors, Asep was asked to cover his mouth and was told that he would be given silence money.

For the first time, he continued, the closing money given was IDR 500 thousand in mid-2019.

Furthermore, every month, he receives a quota of IDR 1 million for two months and increases to IDR 2 million per month in 2020.

"Furthermore, it will be Rp. 3 million, which I will receive regularly every month until January 2023," he said.

Asep testified in the alleged extortion or extortion case against detainees at the KPK branch detention center worth Rp. 6.38 billion in the 2019-2023 period.
