RI Flying Humanitarian Aid To Yemen, Palestine, Sudan Tonight

JAKARTA - The Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) has flown aid for disaster victims in Yemen, Palestine and Sudan using aircraft from the SUMA 1 Base Ops Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, tonight.

Monitoring at the SUMA 1 Halim Perdanakusuma Base Ops, Monday, October 14, seen airport authorities packing at least six units of aid containers from the warehouse into the trunk of Garuda Indonesia Airbus 330-300 aircraft.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto accompanied by ambassadors of the Palestinian, Yemen and Sudanese countries is scheduled to release the departure of humanitarian aid totaling 3 million US dollars directly at 16.20 WIB.

The humanitarian aid consisted of thousands of refugee tents, family tents, tarpaulins, mattresses, blankets, lighting lights, children's clothing, women's clothing, ready-to-eat food, basic necessities, jerry cans, water clarity, medicines, and medical equipment.

Each aid is earmarked for 268 thousand Yemeni disaster victims, 2,895 people infected with feasibility and 491,000 flood victims in Sudan and 1.9 million refugees who were exacerbated by polio in Palestine.

The various aids come from donations given by the community, ministries and institutions, such as from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), Ready Funds to Use the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and others.

All aid from Indonesia departs Monday night and is expected to arrive tomorrow Tuesday (15/10) morning in Yemen for further transit to the other two countries.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy revealed that the Indonesian government was preparing the assistance to ease the impact of friendly citizens who experienced a humanitarian crisis due to natural disasters and activities of military aggression.

Muhadjir hopes that the burden of disaster victims and the humanitarian crisis in friendly countries can be lighter through this assistance, as well as strengthen Indonesia's role in the international arena in urging the creation of peace between nations and upholding human values.
