Nasdem Make Sure Not To Enter The Prabowo-Gibran Government Cabinet

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Nasdem Party, Hermawi Taslim, ensured that the Nasdem Party was not included in the cabinet of the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka governments. However, Nasdem still supports the Prabowo-Gibran government.

"On the basis of considering many things, we decided not to be included in the cabinet," said Hermawi in Jakarta, last Sunday.

Nasdem, said Hermawi, will still provide ideas, ideas, and thoughts to the Prabowo-Gibran government. According to him, this step is no less important and honorable with the option of placing his cadres as ministers in the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet.

"In our opinion, if we receive our thoughts, it is much more important than us entering the cabinet, our thoughts, our contribution to these various things will be much more meaningful than physically we enter, but we are an inseparable part of this government," explained Hermawi.

Furthermore, Hermawi emphasized that Nasdem's move did not mean rejecting Prabowo's cabinet seat offer. It's just that, he said, Nasdem had other options to support the Prabowo-Gibran government.

"Not rejecting and being asked, Pak Prabowo once said 'Why haven't Nasdem given us the name', so it's not a matter of refusing or accepting, but Nasdem's attitude is to make other contributions besides placing people in the cabinet," concluded Hermawi.

Previously, the Chairman of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh, admitted that he had discussed the ministerial seat with Prabowo Subianto. Surya Paloh asked Prabowo not to be a priority in distributing the ministerial rations.

"To be honest, I told Pak Prabowo that Nasdem gave him and his policy policy to prioritize political parties outside Nasdem to enter the cabinet, meaning that Nasdem is not a priority, that's what I hope for," said Surya at the Nasdem Party DPP office, Nasdem Tower, Gondangdia, Menteng, Thursday (19/9/2024).

Surya explained the reason why the Nasdem Party did not want to be prioritized to enter the cabinet. Surya realized that the Nasdem Party was not the party that won Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Maybe the question of why? Once again we can feel how honored it is to be one of the assistants to the president whatever the nomenclature is in the cabinet, but no less honorable to give opportunities to our brothers and sisters from other political party institutions," said Surya Paloh.

Surya Paloh said the request was part of political education and an effort to uphold ethics to respect the parties that had fought to win Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election. Thus, Surya Paloh ensured that he remained in the cabinet of the Prabowo-Gibran government, whether he could get a ministerial quota or not.
