Ministry Of Transportation's Notes In The Development Of Integrated Land Transportation

JAKARTA - The development of land public transportation has been one of the focuses of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) in the last decade. The Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Risyapudin Nursin, said that within that period his party had developed an integrated land transportation infrastructure to support community accessibility.

"In the past decade, the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation has developed various infrastructures, both physical and non-physical, in order to create a safe and integrated land transportation ecosystem," Risyapudin said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, October 13.

He explained that during the last 10 years, the Directorate General of Land Transportation has built six new type A terminals and also rehabilitated 53 existing type A terminals in various regions in Indonesia.

In addition to getting on and off passengers, the terminal was created to provide security and safety guarantees to the public and ensure the feasibility of bus vehicles.

"Also the readiness of bus transportation drivers by carrying out ramp checks on every bus and health checks for drivers," he said.

In addition to people's transportation, the Directorate General of Land Transportation has also developed seven terminals of international goods on several Indonesian borders.

This is a manifestation of the government's presence in facilitating the flow of import exports and improving the economy of the community in the 3TP area (lagging behind, frontier, outermost, and border) with ease of logistics.

Furthermore, he explained that to support inter-modal integration, supporting facilities and intermodal integration (FASPIM) have been built in the form of three sidewalks, 30 bicycle lanes and 95 bus stops in several strategic national tourism areas (KSPN).

Not only that, but his party also developed nodes for river, lake and crossing transportation, by building 44 new ferry ports, 31 river stops and 16 lake ports.

According to him, the development has a significant impact on improving the economy, tourism as well as accessibility for people in islands and 3TP.

"Also thanks to the synergy between the Directorate General of Land Transportation and operators and BUMN (ASDP) in providing optimal crossing services, especially during the Lebaran homecoming and Christmas-New Year," he continued.

In increasing mobility in the 3TP area, the Directorate General of Land Transportation held a pioneer transportation subsidy program, which was allocated to pioneer road transportation subsidies, pioneer crossing transportation subsidies, as well as pioneer goods transportation subsidies in various parts of Indonesia.

"The pilot program reaches the 3TP area, thereby increasing the accessibility of people and goods distribution, stimulating economic growth, maintaining price stability of basic commodities as well as connecting sea highways and air bridges," he explained.

For connectivity between countries, a cross-border transportation program (ALBN) has been present in providing bus services that cross the border between the two countries.

There are two ALBN bus routes in Indonesia, namely Pontianak-Kuching (Malaysia)-Brunei Darussalam and Kupang-Dili (Timor Leste).

Meanwhile, to overcome urban problems, the Directorate General of Land Transportation is present through modernizing urban public transportation services with the buy the service (BTS) scheme which is currently being held in 11 cities.

He explained that the BTS scheme was provided with a service purchase subsidy with a 3-5 year contract as a stimulus from the Ministry of Transportation.

"With the hope that after the contract is completed, a handover can be carried out by the local government and there are already 5 local governments that have succeeded in continuing this program," he added.

In digitizing land transportation services, a Land Partner superapp has been created which will combine all land transportation services on one application and integrate bus operators as well as ferry ships.

"This application will also be used as an application for monitoring violations of vehicle administration so that in the future safe and transparent services will be created," said Risyapudin.
