JAKARTA - The Head of the Puncak Police, Central Papua, Kompol I Nyoman Punia, said that the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Kelenak Murib reportedly burned the SMAN 1 Sinak building.

"The school building fire was carried out on Wednesday night (9/10) at around 19.20 WIT. Apart from burning the school building, the KKB also carried out the shooting, but there were no casualties," said Puncak Police Chief Kompol Nyoman Punia as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 10.

Before setting fire to the school, since Tuesday (8/10), the KKB shot at the security forces post in Sinak, resulting in a shootout.

From the reports received, it was revealed that the shooting, which allegedly came from Yauria Village, was related to the implementation of a stone burning event carried out by the winning team for the Elpis Tabuni candidate pair in Gigobak Village.

In the agenda, there was a miscommunication between the organizing committee and members of the Sinak-based KKB who also monitored the activity, resulting in a commotion and throwing stones at each other, causing the victim of both parties to fall.

From the report, it was revealed that the KKB led by Kalenyak Murib asked for money, but the implementers did not fulfill it, resulting in throwing stones at each other and causing casualties from both parties.

"Currently, Sinak Police personnel are trying to take anticipatory steps to prevent victims and other unwanted things," said Punia Police Chief.
