When The DPR Building Becomes A Real People's House

JAKARTA - As a place for the people's representatives to work, the DPR Building can be considered a 'house' of the people who are ready to accommodate various aspirations of the community. The real function of people's houses can be seen during the inauguration of members of the DPR RI for the 2024-2029 period last week, to be precise, October 1, 2024.

Summarized on Wednesday, October 9, thousands of Indonesians spilled over at the DPR Building which was in Senayan, Jakarta, during the inauguration of the new council members. They consist of family, friends and colleagues, to supporters of members of the DPR and members of the new DPD RI who were inaugurated. There are even ordinary people who come only because they want to see the inauguration procession of DPR/DPD members for the period 2024-2029.

From the observations at that time, it was seen that thousands of people flocked to the parliamentary complex, especially around the Nusantara II Building which was right on the lower side of the inauguration room. "This is the first time I have come here, we have come all the way from Central Papua, the expansion from Papua province is so happy to be here," said Gerson Laleb, a resident who came during the inauguration of DPR members for the 2024-2029 period.

Gerson is a supporter of DPR members from the Central Papua electoral district, Soedeson Tandra who was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony. There were about 20 supporters who were brought from Central Papua to come to the DPR Building. Gerson admitted that he did not expect to enter the DPR Building, which he usually only sees from television or social media.

"We are proud that our representatives are in this building, because this is only the DPR period from Central Papua. We are very happy to be here," he said.

This is my first time here and it is my hope. And it turns out that the DPR is open to the public. Many people are enthusiastic about coming to show that the DPR building is very welcome and open to us," continued Gerson.

One of the supporters of the other inaugurated members of the DPR, Lastri, said the same thing as Gerson. Lastri, who also came from Papua, received an invitation to attend the inauguration of members of the DPR.

"I'm happy, it's like this dream to enter the DPR building. I can't believe it," said Lastri.

The atmosphere of the inauguration of DPR members also looks like a cultural festival. Because it is not only council members who wear the clothes of the archipelago, the family and supporters also enliven it with various typical regional clothing.

Like Lastri and her friends who came wearing Papuan typical clothes. "If this is spontaneous, after we get an invitation, we will wear clothes like this (a typical Papuan dress)," he said.

The atmosphere at the inauguration of DPR members was not only lively, but also very popular. It was seen that several tourism buses entered the parking area to take supporters of the council members.

Aura tawasya also can be seen from how the residents who attended took pictures in various areas of the DPR building. Especially in the turtle building, which is a typical landmark of this people's representative building. The newly appointed members of the DPR/DPD also posed at this location.

The DPR itself also provides various food and beverage booths for the public who attend. One of them is a typical Papuan coffee booth.

It turns out that it is really for the people, because we can actually enter the DPR Building," said Rian from Kediri who admitted that he was present at the moment of the inauguration of DPR members because he wanted to feel the euphoria in the DPR.

The excitement in the DPR did not only occur during the inauguration of members of the DPR. On Friday (4/10), the DPR held a music concert for the people in order to welcome members of the DPR for the 2024-2029 period.

The People Fest concert titled DPR Baru, Harapan Baru was held at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, and opened to the public for free for the community. The event was enlivened by several Indonesian musicians, such as Ungu, Dewa 19, Fat Virzha, Wika Salim, to Ndarboy Genk.

Ahmad Dhani and Sigit Purnomo alias Pasha Ungu, who had just been inaugurated as members of the DPR, even enlivened the People Fest Concert. They also appear to entertain the people who come.

People Fest is also enlivened by musical drama performances, speeches, to fireworks attractions and lighting shows. Visitors also have the opportunity to shop at La Plaza fashion bazaar which presents well-known MSMEs and fashion brands.

"I think it's really fun, we can watch Dewa and Ungu here. Music is one of the things that can unite the people so that they can become more united," said Adinda.
