JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Red and White House Detention Center (Rutan) and Building C1. They even deployed officers who used signal detection tools to search for illegal communication tools.
"These steps are part of the KPK's commitment to ensure that the management of the detention center takes place properly, transparently, and free from practice," said KPK General Bureau Head Tomi Murtomo in a written statement, Wednesday, October 9.
"Officers also held a dialogue with detainees and visitors," said Tomi. "We held an inspection at the MP Detention Center using a signal detection tool to anticipate illegal communication tools. The search went smoothly and no violations were found," he said.
Meanwhile, the inspection at the C1 Building Rutan found minor violations related to cleanliness. Regarding these findings, prisoners were asked to clean and tidy up the room there.
Furthermore, the KPK ensures that it will continue to improve the governance of detention centers to prevent practices that have the potential to harm prisoners and the judicial system as a whole. This step will also go hand in hand with the improvement of facilities.
"Currently there are complaint boxes placed in public spaces in the detention center area to accommodate complaints, criticism and input from various parties around the detention center," said Tomi.
