JAKARTA - Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono said his party was preparing qualified human resources (HR) to serve in the Indonesian Air Force Space Unit.

"All we can do is prepare the human resources, the people. There is a chance to go to school, we send schools abroad or within the country to be ready to form a space force," said Tonny when met at the Air Force Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Wednesday, October 9, confiscated by Antara.

According to Tonny, his party prioritizes strengthening human resources because personnel must have the ability in the space sector in order to contribute to space units.

In addition, his party prioritizes HR training because currently the Indonesian Air Force has not been able to present technology that supports the space unit.

Tonny assessed that space unit technology facilities are quite expensive, so it takes a large budget to buy these tools.

"I have come to PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), I have seen and if you look at the infrastructure it is very expensive. I am very sure that AU if we build our own satellite the budget will run out there," said Tonny.

Therefore, Tonny assessed that collaboration between various parties was needed to support the procurement of satellites for the Indonesian Air Force Space Unit.

This collaboration between agencies and parties was also carried out by several countries in forming space units for defense purposes.

"Australia alone we have gone there. They cannot work alone to form space force. I came to the Headquarters, they continue to cooperate with Australian allied countries, so we are like that too," said Tonny.

Despite being constrained by quite expensive costs, Tony believes that later space units will gradually form slowly until they can finally work effectively in defending the country's sovereignty.
