24th Anniversary Of Banten Province, HMI Serang Branch Rejects Dynasty Politics

SERANG - Banten Province is even 24 years old, Friday 4 October 2024. The 24th anniversary of Banten Province this time is very special because it occurs ahead of the simultaneous regional elections.

At this special moment, the Serang Branch Islamic Student Association (HMI) called for an invitation to reject dynastic politics.

The agents of change who are members of the HMI Serang also invite Banten residents to reflect on the journey of Banten Province.

In commemoration of the 24th Anniversary of Banten Province, the Serang Branch Islamic Student Association (HMI) held a demonstration in front of the Banten Provincial DPRD Building, Friday (4/10).

This action aims to evaluate Banten's journey as a province with the tagline Iman-Taqwa and raise various problems that still interfere with the welfare of the community.

Chairman of HMI Serang Branch, Eman Sulaiman emphasized the importance of reflection on the current condition of Banten.

"The 24 years of travel are not only about celebrating the anniversary ceremony, but also evaluating whether we have achieved the desired goal," said Eman Sulaiman.

Eman Sulaiman emphasized that Banten was formed with the hope of becoming a province that is independent, advanced, and prosperous. But the reality today shows many challenges that must be faced.

"Banten is now listed as the province with the highest unemployment rate in Indonesia, reaching 7.02 percent. This is a reflection of the failure of the Banten leadership in creating adequate employment opportunities," said Sulaiman.

"We demand that the government take fundamental issues more seriously that hinder Banten's progress. Banten's progress must be seen from quality and competitive human resources," said Habiel.

During the action, the HMI crowd carried a banner that read "Banten's 24th Anniversary Reflection, Dare to Voice Against Dynasty Politics!"

They also echo critical speeches regarding dynastic political practices that have an impact on injustice and social inequality in society.

HMI Serang Branch also calls for the need for ASN neutrality in welcoming political contestation, as well as the elimination of money politics practices and concurrent positions that are still rampant in Banten to support the progress of the province.

The action was also attended by various elements of youth organizations, the community, and other activists who supported the demands of the Serang Branch of HMI.

"We don't want Banten Anniversary to be just a ritual. Let's fight together to create a prosperous and independent Banten," said Habiel.
