Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol Zahwany Pandra Arsyad, emphasized that the Riau Islands Police investigators had complied with the rules or on the track in handling drug cases involving 10 former members of the Barelang Police Narcotics Unit.

"(The investigation) is already on the track, what the Kapolda said is always evaluating each of these investigations," said Pandra, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 2.

It is known that 9 out of 10 former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police submitted a pretrial application to the Batam District Court regarding the validity of the determination of the suspect, with the defendant Chief of Police cq the Riau Islands Police Chief. However, after the first trial period, 3 of the 9 people withdrew their application.

Pandra said the pretrial application submitted by the suspects was the right of every citizen to face the law. Likewise, if the application is revoked by the petitioners, it is also his right.

"The Riau Islands Police respect the pretrial trial process which is currently being proposed by 9 suspects. Because it is the right of a suspect, the right to file a pretrial, the Riau Islands Police really respects it," he said.

The middle-ranking officer of the National Police emphasized the commitment of the Riau Islands Police to resolve the case or case, according to the direct order of the Riau Islands Police Chief Inspector General Yan Fitri Halimansyah to investigators who handle the case must be upright in order to be able to reveal clearly in the handling of drug cases that are currently ensnaring several people who should be suspected of being suspects in the drug case.

He explained that in handling this case, investigators followed the orders and directions from the Kapolda to make clear a case. Where this investigation is also supported by the Divpropam Polri regarding the ethics of the Polri profession, and investigators from the Ditresnarkoba Polda Kepri who were screened by the Narcotics Directorate of Bareskrim Polri. So that, in the disclosure of this case, it can really be proven in stages, graded and continuing.

So, he continued, with these efforts there are no more articles that the suspects can deny, and can be proven at trial.

This also emphasized that the pretrial application which was revoked by the petitioners was purely the applicant's right without any pressure from the internal police.

"So the point (pretrial) is the right of the suspects. There is no element of emphasis in this matter. So this is purely a fact of proof that the suspects will certainly feel," he said.

With all the investigation processes carried out in stages, graded and continuing, said Pandra, then supported by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, investigators believe they can prove cases, as the legal objectives, legal certainty, a sense of justice and benefit.

"So it's not just punishment. This is what investigators do, do not let the articles that are suspected after being transferred to the prosecutor, and in court it will weaken, or not be proven. That's what we strengthen. So it is the right to file a lawsuit and the right to withdraw the lawsuit is the right of the suspect," said Pandra.

The former Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police also emphasized that investigators believe that the investigation into the case of 10 former members of the Barelang Police Narcotics Unit is in accordance with Article 184 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and is supported by scientific crime investigation (scientific investigation).

Of the 9 former members of the Barelang Police Narcotics Satres who submitted a pretrial application to the Batam District Court, as many as 3 applicants have withdrawn their petition, they are Brigpol Ibnu Ma'ruf Rambe, Aiptu Wan Rahmat Kurniawan and Iptu Sigit Sarwo. The plan is to hold a pretrial hearing tomorrow for the other 4 applicants.
