Jakarta Fails To Win Overall In PON, Rano Karno Hopes That GBK Will Be Managed By The DKI Provincial Government After-IKN

JAKARTA - Candidate for Deputy Governor of Jakarta number 3 Rano Karno highlighted the failure of DKI Jakarta to win the overall position at the XXI Aceh National Sports Week (PON)-North Sumatra.

Rano Karno emphasized that Jakarta should have the potential to win the most gold medals in PON because it has quite a lot of athletes and sports facilities or facilities that can support the needs of athletes in training.

"Yesterday it had to be our evaluation. Jakarta is number 2 in PON. Losing to West Java. What is the lack of Jakarta? There are facilities, athletes are there, how can you lose? There is something that is not true," said Rano in a discussion in the Cikini area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1.

Rano emphasized that there are sports facilities that can be used as a place to train Jakarta athletes with sufficient complete facilities, namely Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) which is located in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

However, GBK assets are owned by the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemsetneg). Thus, the DKI Provincial Government cannot use GBK as a training ground for Jakarta athletes for championships.

In fact, according to Rano, it is better for athletes to use sports venues at GBK to train their abilities.

"Can GBK be used for our athletes (trained)? No. In the past, PTMSI played ping pong there, boxing practiced there, sports organization offices there. Now, who can be responsible for the room? So, they prefer to be empty rather than contain," said Rano.

Therefore, Rano hopes that the Ministry of State Affairs is willing to hand over to the DKI Provincial Government to manage the GBK so that licensing for the use of sports facilities for athletes can be facilitated.

"So, hopefully if the government moves to IKN, GBK will hold the DKI Regional Government (manage). That means, the management of GBK can be with the DKI regional government. Now you hold the State Secretariat, State Secretariat (later) move (to IKN), hayo, GBK who is holding it?" explained Rano.

Even so, the man who is familiarly called Bang Doel emphasized that he did not ask the Ministry of State Secretariat to hand over GBK assets to the DKI Provincial Government. Rano admitted that he only had hope.

"Not asking, no. GBK is held by the State Secretariat, later if you move to IKN, the State Secretariat moves too. Then what about GBK management? Maybe the DKI Provincial Government manages it. Maybe so," he added.
