Surya Paloh Ensures Saan Mustopa Becomes Deputy Speaker Of The DPR From NasDem

Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh said Saan Mustopa would be the leader of the DPR for the 2024-2029 period from his party.

"Yes, that's right. We congratulate Saan," Surya said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 1.

Surya Paloh revealed that he was happy with the inauguration of 69 NasDem cadres at the Plenary Session.

Previously, a member of the DPR from the PDI-P Said Abdullah leaked the names of a number of candidates for the leadership of the DPR 2024-2029.

"From the Gerindra Dasco Party (Sufmi Dasco Ahmad), it seems that in my opinion, what I heard from Adies Kadir, from NasDem I also heard about Saan Mustopa, and from PKB the former Chairman of Commission VI Riza (Faisol Riza)," he said.

Said said Puan Maharani would become the chairman of the DPR for the second time representing her party.

Based on Law Number 13 of 2019 concerning the Third Amendment to Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the People's Consultative Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Regional Representative Council, and the Regional People's Representative Council (UU MD3), the winning political party for the Legislative Election will become the leader of the DPR.

Therefore, members of the DPR from PDIP will become the Chair of the DPR for the 2024-2029 term of office.
