Pending Tears, Puan Apologizes For The Lack Of Performance In The DPR For The 2019-2024 Period

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, appreciates the cooperation between all parties in the work of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period. While dropping tears, Puan also apologized for the lack of performance of the DPR RI for the past five years.

The apology was conveyed by Puan while chairing the Plenary Meeting for the Closing of the First Session Period of the 2024-2025 Session Year. This Plenary Meeting is the last meeting of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period.

"What we have been working on during this session and for 5 years of service is the collective work of all members of the DPR RI, Commission, Agency, and other Council Apparatus," said Puan when delivering a speech at the last Plenary Meeting of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 30.

"On behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI, we express our appreciation and gratitude for your honorable work achievements, all members of the DPR RI," he continued.

The first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI assessed that the DPR RI must continue to improve itself, accept criticism and auto-criticism, correct all shortcomings, improve institutional quality, and further fulfill people's expectations.

Puan also thanked the DPR partners for their cooperation in building the nation. Puan also apologized if there were things that were not pleasing during the joint work during this DPR period.

"On behalf of the leadership and all members of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period, we express our appreciation to all levels of government, state institutions and all other partners in building Indonesia. We also apologize if during the partnership there are things that are not pleasing," he said.

Puan also appreciated the work of the media that helped oversee the running of people's sovereignty. According to her, all criticisms and suggestions from press colleagues given to the council have become very valuable input for the improvement of the DPR.

"We also express our appreciation and gratitude to the academics, experts, students, intellectuals, NGOs, and community components who have become critical partners for every state policy decided by the DPR RI. Hopefully, participation in overseeing public policies can continue to be carried out because it can educate the nation's life," added Puan.

On behalf of the leadership and members of the DPR for the 2019-2014 period, Puan also thanked all Indonesian people for their support so far. He also apologized to the public if in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, the DPR still had shortcomings.

"On behalf of the leadership and all members of the DPR RI, we also express our gratitude for the people's trust in us so that we can carry out the sovereignty of the people entrusted to us," said Puan.

"We also apologize for all our shortcomings while carrying out our duties. The Indonesian House of Representatives will always improve itself so that it is closer to the people's expectations," he concluded.
