Joe Biden Calls Israel Hiszbollah Leader Nasrallah An Act Of Justice

JAKARTA - United States (US) President Joe Biden assessed the assassination of Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, an act of justice for many victims. Nasrallah was killed in Israeli airstrikes in Beirut.

Biden said Nasrallah and Hezbollah were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of US citizens during four decades of terror.

"Nasrallah's death from Israeli airstrikes is a form of justice for many of its victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis and Lebanese civilians," Biden said.

He explained that the attack that killed the Hezbollah leader took place as part of the conflict that began with the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

"The next day, Nasrallah made an important decision to join Hamas and open up what he calls a 'north front' against Israel," Biden said.

Biden also stressed that the United States fully supports Israel's right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthi, and other Iran-backed terrorist groups.

"Yesterday, I directed my Minister of Defense to further strengthen the defense posture of US military forces in the Middle East region to prevent aggression and reduce the risk of a wider regional war," added Biden.

He also stressed that the US aims to defuse the ongoing conflict in both Gaza and Lebanon through diplomatic channels.

"In Gaza, we have sought a deal supported by the UN Security Council for the ceasefire and the release of hostages. In Lebanon, we have negotiated to repatriate people to their homes safely in Israel and southern Lebanon," Biden said.

"It's time to finalize these deals, eliminate threats against Israel, and bring greater stability to the Middle East region," he added.

Hezbollah has confirmed the Nasrallah killings in a massive airstrike in a densely populated area of Beirut on Friday night.

In addition to the attack on Gaza, Israel continues to launch a massive airstrike in Lebanon that has killed hundreds of people and displaced thousands more this week.
