JAKARTA - The wife of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Armed Forces (Kasad) General Andika Perkasa, Hetty Andika Perkasa, left a message to Papuan women who passed the selection for admission of Indonesian Army soldiers.

"Congratulations on serving, be proud Kowad, proud of Papua to be proud of Indonesia," said Hetty Andika Perkasa in a TNI AD broadcast received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 1.

Hetty Andika Perkasa met with Papuan women before the inauguration of members of the Indonesian Army Women's Corps (Kowad).

Kasad's wife had a chance to talk with Secaba Kowad student from Papua Lisbeth Duwith about the student's journey in achieving her dream of becoming an Army soldier.

Lisbeth from South Sorong is the fourth of six children. He told his story full of hurdles going to the selection test.

Initially, Lisbeth took part in the regular selection but failed at the regional level, she was then directed to follow the special autonomy route. He also had to leave with his father's last salary.

"I am the fourth child, the number three is in college, but because I was a member he did not go to college, because that day my father's last salary, I used it, actually the salary should be for my brother to pay the semester," he said.

If he passes to become a Kowad soldier, Lisbeth is determined that his salary from serving the nation is used to pay for the education of his brothers and sisters.

After graduating, Lisbeth along with other nationalities received education at Secaba Kowad. He also shared his experiences during his education.

Lisbeth and other prospective soldiers got mentally and physically ready to become patriots who were able to carry out their duties properly after becoming Kowad.

"I (initially) was afraid because from above (in the battlefield training arena when I crawled) I was really shot, this is between life and death because of using ammunition, sharp ammunition," he said.

While crawling, she felt pain in her chest, but to reach her goal, Lisbeth continued until she finished her training.

"My coach came to help me, I was helped together with our coach to creep up to the front (of the finish line)," he said.
