Cirebon District Court Judge Checks The Crime Scene Of Vina And Eky's Death

CIREBON - Cirebon District Court (PN), West Java, conducted an inspection of the location or crime scene (TKP) in the case of the deaths of Vina and Eky, as part of the judicial review (PK) process filed by six convicts.

Chairman of the panel of judges at the Cirebon District Court, Arie Ferdian, said that this examination was carried out to ensure the suitability of the facts, which were at the location with case documents from the PK applicant.

"We did an examination to verify the facts on the ground, not to determine who was right or wrong," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 27.

He asked all parties, including the applicant's attorney and the surrounding community, to maintain order during the examination process.

In practice, the panel of judges reviewed several crime scenes in the case, such as visiting Jalan Saladara City of Cirebon to the FlyOver Talun Bridge. This activity started at around 14.30 WIB and ended at 16.30 WIB.

"Technically, we asked, the witnesses answered. No more, nothing less," he said.

Arie emphasized that the results of this local examination will later become a reference material to see the validity of the data and facts on the novum submitted by the applicant and the indictment letter from the respondent.

Meanwhile, Otto Hasibuan, chairman of the legal team of six convicts, appreciated the panel of judges at the Cirebon District Court for granting the request to carry out the TKP examination of the deaths of Vina and Eky.

"The judge here really wants to open this case as well as possible," he said.

He claimed field inspections showed that no witness had seen the murder firsthand, so his party concluded that the 2016 incident was a traffic accident.

"Obviously, based on the examination at the location, no one of the witnesses saw the murder, all the witnesses saw was an accident," he said.

In addition, his party has been given the opportunity to open the results of data extraction from the cellphone of one of Vina's friends at today's PK follow-up hearing.

Otto said from the process, there was no evidence to support the murder incident as alleged by the respondent.

"We also calculate the distance between the locations suspected of being the scene of the murder, namely at the Talun Bridge, where the bodies were found on empty land, about 1.2 kilometers. It makes no sense if the victim is beaten at that location, then taken that far on a motorbike," he said.

Otto said the argument was based on facts, obtained in the field and results of detailed distance calculations.

"We hope that the panel of judges will get sufficient confidence, and hopefully they can recommend to the Supreme Court to release the defendants," he said.
