Viral Boy Trapped In Cianjur River, Police Call Survivor It Takes 2 Hours To Evacuate

CIANJUR - Police confirmed that the boy on behalf of Ujib (14) whose video went viral was caught in the middle of a river with a heavy current was rescued, Thursday, September 26.

The Head of Cikalongkulon Police, AKP Arip Titim, said that this incident began when the victim and five of his friends were swimming in the Cikundul River whose water discharge was suddenly heavy and high.

"Five friends of the victim managed to swim to the edge, while the victim who was already a bit into the middle chose to save himself on a rock in the middle of the river when the water discharge suddenly grew," he said in Cianjur Friday, September 27, which was confiscated by Antara.

The victim, a resident of Padajaya Village, Cikalongkulon District, was trapped for two hours on a rock in the middle of the river until finally, officers were evacuated by installing a number of used ropes and tires so that the victim could fly.

Initially, the officers had difficulty reaching the position of the victim who was in the middle of the river with heavy currents and water discharge which continued to increase, it took up to two hours to evacuate the victim to the riverbank.

"The victim was taken to the local health center to ensure his health condition. It took two hours for the evacuation process because the river flow could threaten the safety of officers, so that several ways were carried out," he said.

Along with the high rainfall, his party asked residents, especially those living along the river in Cianjur not to carry out activities, especially swimming to avoid unwanted things, especially those that could threaten the safety of their souls.

"Parents are also asked to keep an eye on their children so they don't swim in the river in line with the current uncertain weather, because the river water discharge can suddenly be high and heavy," he said.

Meanwhile, a viral video spread on social media of a boy trapped in the middle of an overflowing and heavy river, fortunately the 14-year-old boy was rescued after more than 2 hours of surviving on a rock in the middle of the river.
