YOGYAKARTA - Prabowo-Gibran's plan for a free medical check-up is now facing discussion, after the free lunch program was busy.

It should be noted that the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair in their political campaign had previously promised superior programs in the form of free health checks for the community.

With this initiative, Prabowo-Gibran hopes to improve the quality of public health and reduce the risk of serious illness through timely early detection. So how is it implemented?

Reporting from Siloam Hospital website, health checks are a thorough health assessment designed to evaluate a person's general welfare.

In general, this routine examination involves a series of tests and procedures aimed at detecting potential health problems early on. The main components of health checks, as follows:

Doctors will ask about past illness, surgery, and significant family health conditions.

In addition, questions about diet, sports habits, smoking, alcohol consumption, and drug use will be raised to identify potential risk factors.

The examination includes heart rate, respiratory frequency, blood pressure, and body temperature.

The doctor will check your head, neck, chest, stomach, and limbs to check for abnormalities. Then, using a stethoscope, the doctor will listen to your heart and lungs to assess their function.

In addition, your skin will be checked to determine the presence of rashes, moles, or other skin conditions.

Finally, there will be a neurological assessment, where your reflex, coordination, and balance can be tested.

This examination is the most thorough which includes the following stages:

For women, a pelvic examination will be carried out involving visual examinations of external genitals and internal examinations of vaginas and cervicals.

Then pap smear, where cell samples are collected from cervicals to check cervical cancer.

Finally, there is a breast check to find out if there is a lump or change.

In addition to women, men will also go through stages of genital examination including testes to find out whether there are lumps or abnormalities.

Then there will be prostate tests to check the size and consistency of your prostate glands.

The free health check plan will be implemented starting next year, with a target of 55 million Indonesians who will get medical check-up services at no cost.

This program is designed to run in line with Tuberculosis (TBC) prevalence control efforts by 2025.

Please note, currently, Indonesia is ranked second as the country with the highest number of TB sufferers in the world, where every day this disease causes 100 thousand deaths.

The government will also allocate IDR 1.7 trillion for improving health facilities, including hospital construction and other health infrastructure.
