New Election Rules Appear During Stages, DKPP: Can Influence Democracy

BOGOR - Chairman of the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) Heddy Lugito reminded the importance of improvements in the implementation of elections, including regulatory matters. Do not let there be changes in the midst of the stages as has happened recently.

"Repairs cannot only be made in the (conspecific, red) sector, one side. (improvement, red) more must be carried out in our electoral regulation sector so that new regulations do not appear when the election stage is running," Heddy told reporters at a Media Gathering event in Bogor, West Java, Thursday night, September 26.

Heddy said that the implementation of the election was still not as expected. Moreover, when added with sudden changes in regulations.

"Because when it changes in the middle of that stage it will affect our democracy," he said.

Thus, Heddy hopes that in the future the discourse on the unification of election laws and regional elections will solve regulatory problems.

"There are no electoral regulations that appear at the time of the (starting, red) stage, which turns out to create extraordinary public noise like the last time we witnessed together related to the Pilkada Law," he said.

"My hope is that in the future these kinds of things will no longer exist so that the quality of our democracy is really good. Not only successful implementation but successfully improving the quality of our democracy," concluded Heddy.
