Former East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Prevented From Going Abroad Regarding The Mining Permit Corruption Case

JAKARTA - Former Governor of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Awang Faroek Ishak and two other people were prevented from leaving the country. This effort was requested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to the Directorate General of Immigration regarding the alleged corruption of mining business permits (IUP) which is being investigated.

"The KPK has issued Decree Number 1204 of 2024 concerning the Prohibition of Traveling Abroad for three Indonesian citizens, namely AFI, DDWT, and ROC," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 26.

Meanwhile, based on information, the DDWT that was prevented was the Mayang Dona Walfiares Tania or Dayang Donna Faroek. He is Awang Faroek's son.

Returning to Tessa, she said all three were prevented from leaving the country for the next six months. They are asked to fulfill the investigator's summons.

"The investigator has taken action against traveling abroad because the presence of the person concerned in Indonesian territory is needed in the context of the investigation process," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK said it was investigating allegations of corruption related to mining business permits (IUP) in East Kalimantan. The investigation was carried out since 19 September.

In this case, three suspects have been named. The KPK has also searched a number of locations in East Kalimantan to look for evidence of alleged corruption since September 21.

From the information gathered, one of the locations searched was the residence of the former Governor of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Awang Faroek Ishak on Jalan Sei Barito, Port Village, Samarinda Kota District on Tuesday, September 24. However, the results have not been conveyed by the KPK.
