JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) targets Nusantara Airport in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan (Kaltim) to officially operate for the public in December 2024. Airport status in IKN will change from VVIP to commercial.

Jokowi ordered the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi to change the status of the airport in IKN from VVIP to commercial.
"I have ordered the Minister of Transportation to immediately convert it into a commercial airport, it can be used for Hajj for Umrah and for others," he said.
