BANJARMASIN - A joint SAR team has successfully found a teenager who was allegedly attacked by a crocodile in the Karang Bintang Village River, Karang Bintang District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, in a dead condition.

The victim, whose initials are AR (15), a resident of Karang Bintang Village, was previously reported missing on Sunday (12/7) at around 20.00 Wita after allegedly being attacked by a crocodile while in the vicinity of the river.

Head of the Banjarmasin I SAR Office, I Putu Sudayana, as SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC), said on the second day of the operation, the joint team determined the search strategy by combing the river using a boat with priority for safety because the location is a crocodile habitat with strong river currents.

"The victim was found about 7.5 kilometers from the initial location of the incident. The victim was then evacuated to the Karang Bintang Health Center to undergo an examination by the authorities before being handed over to the family," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 13.

After the evacuation process was completed, the joint SAR team carried out a debriefing of the operation. All SAR elements involved then returned to their respective agencies after the search and rescue operation for the victims was declared over.
