JAKARTA - The 2024 Pilkada has begun to enter the stage of implementing the campaign after regional head candidates receive serial numbers. The DPR appealed to all participants in the 2024 Pilkada along with their supporters to carry out the campaign peacefully.

"For the sake of a dignified democracy, let's campaign peacefully. The implementation of the campaign must be carried out with respect to public order so as not to disturb the comfort of the community," said Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives Guspardi Gaus, Thursday, September 26.

The 2024 Pilkada campaign lasted for about 2 months, from September 25 to November 23, 2024. Guspardi emphasized to the candidates to take advantage of this campaign to socialize their programs to the public.

"This is a very important moment in which the candidates can convey their vision and mission to attract the community, as well as time for the people to evaluate the programs offered," explained the legislator from the West Sumatra II electoral district.

"The period of this campaign is a place for candidate pairs to promise the community. Later people will judge whether the promise will be fulfilled when the candidate has been elected as regional head. This is about the commitment and character of the leader," Guspardi continued.

The member of the Commission in the DPR in charge of regional regional and autonomy affairs also emphasized that the campaign period should be carried out responsibly. That way, said Guspardi, there is no candidate pair (paslon) who violates the KPU rules as the organizer of the Pilkada.

The implementation of the Pilkada campaign this time is regulated in PKPU Number 13 of 2024 where the prohibitions that cannot be carried out by the candidate pairs include questioning the basis of the Pancasila state and the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, insulting one, religion, ethnicity, race, groups, governor candidates, deputy governor candidates, regent candidates, deputy regent candidates, mayor candidates, deputy mayor candidates and political parties.

Another prohibition in campaigns is to carry out campaigns in the form of incitement, slander, pitting political parties, individuals or community groups, using violence, threats of violence or promoting the use of violence to individuals, community groups and or political parties.

Prospective pairs are also prohibited from carrying out campaigns that could disrupt security, peace, and public order, threaten and advocate the use of violence to take power from legitimate, destructive and or eliminate campaign props, use government or local facilities and budgets, use places of worship and education, conduct parades that are carried out on foot or vehicles on the highway, and carry out campaign activities outside the schedule set by the Provincial and Regency/City KPUs.

"I urge all candidate pairs to study rules and prohibitions that cannot be violated. In addition, there are several things that are no less important, including avoiding the practice of money politics because it can damage the integrity of the Pilkada," said Guspardi.

According to him, the campaign must be based on clear ideas and programs. Guspardi also invited people whose regions carry out regional elections to actively participate in determining the future of their regions.

"I invite the whole community to jointly succeed in the 2024 Pilkada in a positive and fair way. Do not abstain because every people's voice is a valuable voice and has an important meaning in building a better future for regional development," he said.

Guspardi hopes that the antusism of the regional democratic party can be felt in the 2024 Pilkada.

"And once again I urge you to carry out campaigns in peace and orderly, so that the Pilkada can feel good. Prioritize unity and integrity by doing healthy competitions," said Guspardi.
