The Majority Of Cities In The Country Rain Today, BMKG: Light To Lightning Accompanied

JAKARTA - Most major cities in Indonesia have the potential to experience rain, Thursday 26 September with light, moderate to rain accompanied by lightning, according to the forecast of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

In an online weather forecast quoted by ANTARA, BMKG forecaster Andika Hapsari explained the potential for rain in a number of Sumatra areas including Padang, Medan, Tanjung Piang, Palembang and Pangkal Pinang.

He also said moderate rain of intensity could occur in the Bandar Lampung and Bengkulu areas as well as thunderstorms in Jambi. Meanwhile, Banda Aceh will experience a thick condition and running air in Pekanbaru.

For the Java Island area, he explained, the potential for light rain can occur in the areas of Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya with rain accompanied by lightning in the Serang City area and its surroundings.

It is also predicted that the BMKG can fall in the Mataram and Denpasar areas, with Kupang going to experience thick cloudy weather conditions.

On the island of Kalimantan, BMKG said there is the potential for light rain in Pontianak, Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin as well as thunderstorms in the Tanjung Selor area. For Samarinda City, it is predicted that it can experience foggy conditions.

He said light rain conditions also occurred in the Makassar, Palu and Manado areas accompanied by thunderstorms in Mamuju. Meanwhile, Kendari experienced cloudy weather and running air in Gorontalo.

For eastern Indonesia, BMKG predicts light rain to occur in Ambon, Ternate, Manokwari, Jayawijaya and Merauke with moderate intensity rain that has the potential to fall in Nabire and Jayapura as well as thunderstorms in Sorong.
