Mount Ibu West Halmahera Again Removes Incandescent Lava As High As 200 Meters

TERNATE - Mount Ibu in West Halmahera Regency, North Maluku (Malut), again emitted incandescent lava observed with a height of 200 meters accompanied by an ash eruption as high as 1,000 meters above the top of the mountain.

"The volcanic eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 28 mm and a duration of approximately 1 minute 52 seconds," said an officer of the Mount Api Ibu Observation Post, Axl Roeroe, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 25.

He said the column of ash was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning towards the Northwest, which was observed by beams of fire as high as 200 meters from the top of the mountain as high as 1,325 meters above sea level.

Therefore, people in the area are asked not to move within a 4 km radius and to expand sectorally 5 km to the crater opening in the northern part of the active crater of Mount Ibu.

"If ash rains, people who are active outside the home are advised to wear masks and glasses, so they can avoid exposure to the ash," he said.

Previously, on Friday (20/9) last week Mount Ibu in West Halmahera Regency, emitting incandescent lava which was observed at an altitude of 300 meters accompanied by an ash eruption as high as 1.5 kilometers from sea level (Dpl).

The eruption and accompanied by incandescent lava was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 28 mm and a duration of ~ 1 minute 4 seconds, at the Ibu Volcano Observation Post in Gam Ici Village, Ibu District.
