Puan Said, Additional Plans For The DPR Commission To Adjust The Number Of Ministries Prabowo

JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said the plan to add commissions in the DPR was still being discussed to balance the number of ministries in the new government. This is the first step for the DPR to accommodate the possibility of adding ministries in the elected Presidential government, Prabowo Subianto.

"This is being finalized, right with the plan to add more ministries, it seems that there is a possibility that there should be additional commissions," said Puan Maharani at the DPR Building, Tuesday, September 24.

Puan explained that the addition of this commission is to ensure that every ministry has the right partner in the DPR RI to carry out supervision, consultation, and support in carrying out government programs.

"So there will also be the possibility of adding a commission if there is an additional ministry," explained the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.

Puan also emphasized that the implementation of the formation of a new commission in the DPR must be in accordance with applicable provisions and mechanisms.

"So we are working on it, and according to the mechanism, we will implement it according to the mechanism," said Puan.

When asked by reporters about the potential for sharing leadership positions from the addition of the number of commissions and anticipatory efforts, the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture stated that the election for the leadership of AKD would only be carried out in accordance with DPR regulations.

Puan stated that the election for the leadership of the new DPR commission, if it is carried out, is expected to be met through a deliberation mechanism for consensus from all factions of the DPR.

"Later we will do (the election of the head of the commission or the new AKD) according to the mechanism and we will discuss it in accordance with deliberation and consensus, that," said Bung Karno's grandson.

Previously, the DPR had officially passed the Law on Amendments to Law Number 39 of 2008 concerning the Ministry of State into a law that would pave the way for Prabowo Subianto to add ministries according to his needs.

The decision was taken at the 7th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI During the First Session of the 2024-2025 Session Year at the Kura-kura Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (19/9).
