JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Herman Hery asked the National Police and BNPT to strengthen their intelligence function in detecting incidents of terrorism. The National Police was asked to ensure the safety of the community ahead of the Easter Celebration and the month of Ramadan.

"I encourage the National Police to strengthen its security function in the community, especially since residents will prepare for Easter and the fasting month this month," said Herman, Wednesday, March 31.

According to him, the attack at the Police Headquarters was an emergency signal for the National Police, BNPT and BIN considering the two consecutive acts of terror in the past week. Moreover, the Police have just arrested suspected terrorists separately in several parts of Indonesia.

"The arrests carried out by suspected terrorists in recent times have not been effective in investigating potential acts of terror," said the PDIP politician.

Herman also urged the Police to move quickly to investigate the terrorism network in the country.

Even so, Herman appreciated the swift action of the security officers at the National Police Headquarters who immediately took action against the perpetrators. Moreover, from the video circulating, the perpetrator has made threats to officers by pointing a firearm.

"So, security officers have taken measured measures to prevent the escalation of these acts of terror," he said.
