Arrested For Nyabu, Three Members Of The Mentawai DPRD Become Suspects

Three members of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) have become suspects in a case of alleged drug abuse of methamphetamine.

He said the three people's representatives were S (55), M (49), and MS (51) who were charged with Article 114 paragraph (1), 111 paragraph (1), 132 paragraph (1) and 127 paragraph (1) of the Narcotics Law.

"The suspects face a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of 15 years," he explained.

The council members were arrested at a hotel in Padang on Saturday (21/9) in the morning.

At that time they were known to be following technical guidance (bimtek) as members of the council who had just been inaugurated on September 2, 2024.

From the hands of the perpetrators, the police secured evidence in the form of methamphetamine, as well as a suction device commonly called a bong.

Regarding the three suspects, the police also charged one private employee with the initials AA (51) who is now also a suspect.

"After the arrest of the four of them, a urine test was also carried out, all of them were positive for methamphetamine (shabu-shabu)," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Drugs at the Padang Police, AKP Martadius, emphasized that the arrests made were purely from the results of the investigation without any interest, let alone politics.

He said that initially those arrested were AA (private) in the Parak Gadang area, East Padang District, Padang City.

After being arrested, AA admitted that he had just consumed methamphetamine with his colleagues at the hotel, which was none other than

member dewan.

"Armed with information from AA, we finally immediately hunted down the hotel in question, until then the three suspects were arrested along with evidence," he explained.
