KPU Allows Rano Karno To Add Si Doel's Name In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Voice Letter

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of DKI Jakarta Province has allowed the candidate for deputy governor (cawagub) of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, to use the name Si Doel in the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election campaign (Pilgub).

This includes adding it in ballots.

For your information, Rano Karno is the actor of Si Doel in the soap opera Si Doel Anak Sekolah.

As a result, so far Rano has also been known as Si Doel in social life.

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta KPU, Wahyu Dinata, said that the KPU has appointed three pairs of candidates for the Jakarta gubernatorial election, as valid candidates for governor and deputy governor. They are Pramono-Rano, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, and Dharma-Kun.

However, Wahyu continued, before the determination, the KPU received the response of the incoming people.

They want to use Si Doel's name as an addition to Rano Karno.

After clarifying, continued Wahyu, Rano Karno has taken care of the use of Si Doel's name to court.

"We are clarifying the candidate for deputy governor on behalf of Rano Karno and the person concerned stated that he had the court letter in question," Wahyu said after an internal plenary meeting at the DKI Jakarta KPU Office, Sunday, September 22.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Technical Division for the Implementation of the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU Election, Dody Wijaya, said that his party had announced the results of the repair on September 12, 2024 through an official report, the deputy governor pair on behalf of Haji Rano Karno SIP.

However, continued Dody, on September 18 his party accepted the public's response.

In that response, there were parties who conveyed that Jakarta residents had known Rano Karno better through his role as Si Doel.

Therefore, the public proposes that Si Doel's name be included in the ballot.

"Then we asked to follow up via ID cards and publications in the media including in the socialization props he mentioned Si Doel's name," he explained.

"On this basis, on September 21, we will clarify the political party that proposes then to the candidate pair for deputy governor, on the 21st we were given a copy of the court determination from South Jakarta," he continued.

The copies in question are the Determination of Court number 899 / pdt.p / 2024 / pn.jkt.sel. It states that the names of Rano Karno, Haji Rano Karno, Haji Rano Karno Sip, and Si Doel, are the names of the same person.
