Two Groups Of Brawl Residents In Pulogadung, 7 Perpetrators Arrested By Police

JAKARTA - Two groups of residents from different urban villages in Pulogadung District, East Jakarta, were involved in a brawl on Sunday, September 22, early in the morning.

The two groups of masses attacked each other using sharp weapons, firecrackers, wood and fireworks.

"Yes, there was a group brawl, but it has been resolved by the authorities and some have been caught and they just don't know how many people there are," Agus said, an eye witness to the incident to reporters.

The police officers who were at the scene could not break up this brawl, because of the large number of mass groups. Several times officers fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.

"Ada sajam banyak yang diamankan. Tadi berlangsung turutannya sekitar setengah jam lah. Massa puluhan, penyebab tidak tahu," ujarnya.

A total of eight people suspected of being involved in the brawl were arrested by the East Jakarta Metro Police Pioneer Patrol Team.

"There are quite frequent fights here, yesterday two weeks ago almost an incident, we just rushed to break up," he said.

A number of youths and teenagers who were arrested around the location of the brawl were taken to the Pulogadung Police Headquarters, East Jakarta for examination.
