Bamsoet: The Golkar Faction Must Give Strong Influence In The DPR And Guard Prabowo Subianto's Government

JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo, who is familiarly called Bamsoet, emphasized that the Golkar Party faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) must be able to make a significant contribution in supporting the government of Elected President Prabowo Subianto. With a total of 102 elected members, the Golkar faction is the second largest faction in the DPR after the PDI-P, and will play a strategic role in maintaining political stability and ensuring the success of the national development agenda.

"The Golkar faction must be at the forefront to oversee government policies that favor the people and strengthen fair development," said Bamsoet while attending a gathering with elected DPR members from the Golkar Party in Jakarta, Friday night (20/9/2024).

Bamsoet also emphasized the importance of cohesiveness and synergy between members of the Golkar faction in carrying out the three main functions of the DPR, namely legislation, supervision, and budgeting. According to him, internal synergy can make the role of the Golkar faction more effective in serving the community and fighting for pro-people policies in parliament.

The event was also attended by the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia, Secretary General Sarmuji, General Treasurer Sari Yuliati, as well as several Deputy General Chairs such as Ace Hasan Syadzily, Adies Kadir, and Wihaji, along with elected DPR members from the Golkar Party for the period 2024-2029.

In his statement, Bamsoet highlighted the strength of the Golkar faction which has 17.59 percent of the total 580 members of the DPR RI, making it a significant force to influence national policies. "The Golkar Party faction must be a driving force in supporting Prabowo Subianto's government to achieve a just and prosperous society," continued Bamsoet.

He also reminded that in accordance with Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (UU MD3), the DPR has three main functions: legislation, supervision, and budget. The legislative function allows the DPR and the government to make and ratify laws. The budget function is related to the discussion of the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) proposed by the government, while the supervisory function monitors the implementation of government laws and policies.

"The DPR must ensure that the state budget is used for the benefit of the people, not for the personal or certain groups. The role of the DPR is very vital in maintaining the balance of power and ensuring the accountability of the government," concluded Bambang Soesatyo.
