Puan Maharani: Megawati And Prabowo Will Meet In The Near Future

Chairman of the PDI-P DPP for Political Affairs Puan Maharani confirmed that the plan for a meeting between the Elected President and the General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto and PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri will be held in the near future.

"It must be in the fastest possible time. God willing, there will be a meeting," said Puan when met by media crews in the Karet Tengsin area, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, September 21.

However, he did not know when the planned meeting would be held. This is because Prabowo Subianto's inauguration as the 8th President of Indonesia will be held on October 20, 2024 at the Indonesian Parliament.

"The date is waiting for the right time. The inauguration is still on October 22," he said.

The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives also explained the Prabowo-Megawati meeting to stay in touch and synergize in building the nation and state.

In addition, he also dismissed the Prabowo-Megawati issue that he would meet after the inauguration. "Who said it? Where did the information come from?" asked Puan.

Previously, Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani said the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri with Elected President Prabowo Subianto who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party will soon meet before the inauguration of the Prabowo-Gibran government on October 20, 2024.

"God willing, it will happen. Hopefully (before the inauguration)," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (9/9).

However, he was reluctant to reveal more for sure when the meeting would be held.

"Anyway, God willing, it will happen before the inauguration," he asserted.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI then said that Prabowo and Megawati greeted each other.

"Mr. Mega said hello to Mr. Prabowo, and Mr. Prabowo also conveyed greetings to Mrs. Mega," he said.

However, Muzani only answered diplomatically regarding the meaning of greeting between the two national figures.
