DENPASAR - Denpasar City Government received fiscal incentive funds from the central government, one of which was to eradicate extreme poverty.

The handover was symbolically carried out by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, which was received by the Mayor of Denpasar, I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara, on Wednesday (18/9) at the National Coordination Meeting and Submission of Fiscal Incentives for the Performance Category for the Elimination of Extreme Poverty in Jakarta.

Denpasar City received fiscal incentive funds totaling Rp24,843,376,000 (Rp24.84 billion).

The acquisition of fiscal incentive funds consists of four categories, namely the stunting reduction performance category of IDR 5,661,448,000, the domestic product use performance category of IDR 6,427,661,000, and the category of regional spending acceleration performance of IDR 6,153,800,000.

In addition, the central government's appreciation to the Denpasar City Government by handing over incentive funds for the extreme poverty elimination performance category amounting to Rp6,600,067,000.

The handover of the funds is an appreciation of the performance of the Denpasar City Government in implementing effective programs to overcome extreme poverty.

During the handover of the funds, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin expressed his appreciation for the concrete steps that have been taken by the local government.

He stressed that the handover of these funds was directed to support projects, and initiatives that have proven effective in helping people in extreme poverty conditions.

According to Ma'ruf Amin, local governments have shown extraordinary commitment in fighting extreme poverty.

"I appreciate the role of all ministries/agencies and local governments, which have implemented Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2022 well so that the poverty alleviation target close to 0% can be achieved," said Ma'ruf Amin.

The Vice President also asked regional heads to maintain the trend of reducing extreme poverty, which is targeted at 0 percent by the end of this year. And currently it is at 0.83 percent as of March 2024.

"Hopefully this fiscal incentive can boost performance and further reach poor family groups through various programs in their respective regions, this fund can strengthen joint efforts in creating a more prosperous and just society," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin as quoted by ANTARA.

Meanwhile, Denpasar Mayor I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara welcomed this support and stated that the incentive funds would be used wisely to optimize the various poverty alleviation programs that were already running.

The Mayor of Jaya Negara emphasized programs that are the focus of receiving incentive funds, including increasing access to education and skills training for marginalized communities, empowering local economies, and social welfare programs.
