Governor Ansar Ahmad Suggests Students Don't Have A Dream To Become Civil Servants

JAKARTA - The Governor of Riau Islands Province Ansar Ahmad advised students in the area not only to aspire to be civil servants and honorariums in the local government.

As reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 31, according to Ansar Ahmad when giving a speech at the XVI Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony at the Auditorium of the Campus of the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) on Dompak Island, Tanjungpinang, there are still many opportunities for the advancement of Riau Islands where 96 percent of its territory is oceans.

Various marine potentials can be developed, such as the fisheries and marine sector, logistics business, oil to gas.

"I invite all graduates to seize this still large opportunity for advancing Riau Islands", said Ansar Ahmad.

Ansar said that getting a bachelor's degree is not the end of the journey to gain knowledge. Indeed, after graduation, it is only the beginning of the journey to contribute to both the family, society, nation, and country.

He advised the graduates to apply the knowledge they had learned on campus to provide benefits to the people in Riau Islands.

"Continue to hone skills so that they can become entrepreneurs as well as new motivators who can provide assistance to increase community productivity", he said.

Ansar continued that based on a survey from a credible institution, it is predicted that in 2045 Indonesia will grow to become one of the countries with the largest economy, equal to China and the United States.

This is very basic because Indonesia is awarded a demographic bonus in which the number of people who enter into productive age is more than the population of non-productive age.

This demographic bonus, he said, would certainly be a threat if it could not be utilized by building better human resources.

"Therefore, the provincial government is serious from time to time with educational entities to build the quality and quality of education starting from the most basic levels of education, from rural to urban levels. So, the demographic bonus can sustain the progress of this nation", he explained.

Meanwhile, UMRAH Chancellor Agung Dhamar Syakti in his speech reported 378 people for the XVI Graduation Ceremony.

The graduation procession was carried out with a health protocol by presenting only a part of the students in the auditorium and the rest attended through a zoom meeting.

Agung hopes that in the future the support from the provincial and district/city governments to provide easy access for the sons and daughters of Riau Islands, most of whom are local children, can attend university.

"We hope that the local government can continue to contribute by providing facilities in the form of scholarship programs for the children of the Riau Islands so that they can contribute to the progress of the nation, state and religion", he said.
