Bengkulu Bawaslu Investigate Fatherslon's Report Distributing Basic Necessities To Residents

BENGKULU - Indications of political fraud were reported to the Bengkulu General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu). Based on this report, a special team was formed to investigate the prospective pair of candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bengkulu who allegedly distributed basic necessities.

According to reports, it is suspected that there are tuwaslons that distribute cooking oil to the public.

The Coordinator of the Bengkulu City Bawaslu Division for Handling Violations and Settlement of Disputes (Kordiv PPPS), Ahmad Maskuri, when contacted by telephone, said on Sunday that the team was formed to determine whether the distribution of the basic necessities was part of a team of candidate pairs or volunteers.

"We have formed a team to investigate the initial information received that the campaign team or volunteers distributed cooking oil to the public," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

The team will investigate for the next seven days, and will later verify the report found in the mass media and submitted by the community to the Bengkulu City Bawaslu.

Ahmad explained that until now his party has not determined whether the distribution of basic necessities to the community is an election violation or not, because it is still in process.

"We remind that the campaign schedule has not yet started, so that it does not violate the provisions of the campaign outside the schedule. Aid tools or others have been regulated in PKPU that can be distributed or not to the public, there are provisions," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Bengkulu City Bawaslu continues to disseminate and appeal to prospective pairs of candidates and political parties to carry out the campaign in accordance with the provisions that have been set and not to provide basic necessities and others to the community.

"If it is not in accordance with what is regulated in the campaign PKPU, it will be followed up," he said.
