Cianjur Police Investigate Death Of Land Buried Operator 5m Deep

CIANJUR - The Cianjur Resort Police, West Java, conducted an investigation regarding the operator of heavy equipment on behalf of Mamat alias Ujang (31) who was buried under a 5 meter high soil while working to dredge the soil in the sand dug, Sukamulya Village, Cilaku District, Saturday.

Kasatreskrim Cianjur Police AKP Tono Listianto said that his party was still investigating whether there was an element of negligence that caused the victim to die and the sand dug permit.

"We carried out an investigation that caused the victim to die buried along with the heavy equipment he was driving, whether there was an element of negligence or others, including checking the sand excavation permit," he said in Cianjur.

AKP Tono said that his party would ask for statements from a number of witnesses, including the owner of the excavation related to the case.

"We will also conduct an examination regarding the complete permit for the type C sand excavation in Cilaku District," he said again.

As reported by the Cianjur Basarnas together with joint officers succeeded in evacuating the body of heavy equipment operator Maman alias Ujang (31) who was buried by a 5 meter high soil while dredging in the sand dug, Sukamulya Village, Cilaku District, Saturday (14/9).

Head of Cianjur Basarnas Andika Zein said that his party together with joint officers from the Cianjur Fire Department, Cianjur BPBD, Cianjur Volunteer Forum, and TNI/Polri went straight to the location after receiving reports from local residents.

"Information from eyewitnesses stated that the 25 meter high cliff soil that was being dredged by the victim with heavy equipment suddenly collapsed and immediately buried the victim along with the heavy equipment he was driving," said Andika.

Joint officers had difficulty evacuating because the soil was mixed with various sizes of rock that hoarded the victim along with the equipment weighing about 5 meters, so it took up to 3 hours.

The victim's body was successfully evacuated from the heavy equipment cabin in a lifeless condition, then handed over to the family for burial in a public cemetery near his house, Cilaku District, Cianjur.
