Task Force 'Jemawa', Indonesian COVID-19 Cases Decreased When Other Countries Lockdown Again

JAKARTA - Spokesman for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Wiku Adisasmito, said that currently the trend of the development of Coronavirus cases in Indonesia has begun to decline since the beginning of February 2021.

At the same time, Wiku said that currently the condition of COVID-19 globally was experiencing an increase in positive cases and deaths in a number of countries.

"In fact, in some countries, Indonesia has had to carry out a lockdown again to keep the decline in positive cases, and deaths since the beginning of February this year", Wiku said in a YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, March 30.

Wiku said, this condition indicates the better collaboration between the government and the community in suppressing the COVID-19 case.

This also proves that the resilience of public health is increasing and strong in facing the coronavirus attack.

"This is our common asset to welcome the future as long as we are willing, able, and serious to carry out efforts to control COVID-19 consistently like our efforts during the last two months", explained Wiku.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 76,904 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 4,682 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulated positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 1,505,775 people and 122,326 active cases", he was quoted as saying from the Ministry of Health's data.

Cases recovered today increased by 5,877 cases, so that a total of 1,342,695 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 173 people and a total of 40,754 people.

Meanwhile, as of today, the world's total COVID-19 cases have reached 128,202,664 cases. Currently, there are 2,803,991 cases of COVID-19 fatalities. Cases of recovery reached 103,439,254 people. The current active cases are 21,987,849 cases.
