PAM Jaya compensated hundreds of thousands of residents of piped water customers who were affected by the recent disruption of water supply.

They include 21 thousand customers in 14 urban villages who were affected after the fire in the area around the City Forest Management Installation (IPA) in North Jakarta on August 14, 2024.

Then, 200,000 customers in 83 Kelurahan due to the leakage of the raw water pipe belonging to BUMN on Jalan Prof. Dr Satrio, South Jakarta, which occurred at the end of August 2024.

PAM Jaya Service Director Syahrul Hasan said this compensation would be given in the form of reducing water bills in September 2024 for regular customers with a value of 10 percent or a maximum of IDR 50,000.

The reduction will be directly recorded in the system and the final value that customers need to pay can be seen on the September 2024 water bill.

"We understand the inconvenience experienced by customers due to the disruption of clean water supply from the City Forest IPA and the leakage of raw water pipes. Therefore, as a form of service, we are committed to making a policy of providing compensation," said Syahrul at the PAM Jaya Office, Friday, September 13.

During the disruption of water supply, Syahrul said that his party had distributed clean water assistance up to 3,660 cubic meters to locations of public facilities through tank cars.

Likewise for customers affected by water supply disruptions from the City Forest IPA. The City Forest IPA is an installation managed by PT Jakarta Utilities Propertindo (PT JUP).

Furthermore, Syahrul admitted that the fire incident in the area around the City Forest IPA did not only have a negative impact on customers, but also the PAM JAYA operation.

There is a potential loss of PAM Jaya's revenue worth more than Rp. 400 million because the installation has not been able to function optimally since the incident occurred.

"We continue to coordinate with PT JUP as the manager of the City Forest IPA so that the technical problems that occur can be resolved immediately and the water supply returns to normal," explained Syahrul.

"We project that the repairs will be completed soon and the water supply is expected to be distributed in stages by mid-September," he added.
