KPK Affirms Investigation Of Kaesang-Bobby Private Jet Facility Continues

BOGOR - Temporary Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango said that the investigation into the use of private jets by the families of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Kaesang Pangarep and Bobby Nasution continued. The transfer from the Directorate of Gratification to the Directorate of Service Revenue and Public Complaints (PLPM) is only a technical matter.

"We continue to do that, moving it to other directorates who do have standard operating procedures in handling this," Nawawi told reporters in the Bogor area, West Java, quoted on Friday, September 13.

Nawawi ensured that the anti-corruption commission had the authority to investigate allegations of providing facilities to Kaesang and Bobby. However, the process must be carried out according to the rules.

"So we only transfer the handling to the directorate who already has standard operating procedures in handling this," he said.

"(We, ed) are not stopping this handling," continued Nawawi.

Previously reported, the KPK had received two complaints about the use of private jets by the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) who is also the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Kaesang Pangarep. Those who complained were the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) and lecturers at the Jakarta State University (UNJ) Ubaidillah Badrun.

In its report, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman conveyed that an MoU for cooperation between the Solo City Government and PT Shopee Indonesia International was related to the development of MSMEs. He suspects that the jet aircraft used by Kaesang and his wife, Erina Gudono, was facilitated by the company.

Meanwhile, a lecturer at the Jakarta State University (UNJ), Ubaidillah Badrun, reported Kaesang's luxurious lifestyle with his wife who used a private jet to the United States.

Meanwhile, Bobby Nasution, the KPK closed a meeting about incoming reporting. However, the Mayor of Medan is also suspected of using a private jet after his photo was spread on social media X.

Regarding the investigation of this report, KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika said the process was carried out behind closed doors. This is because the review by the Directorate of Public Service and Complaints (PLPM) aims to find allegations of unlawful acts.

"So it can't be opened transparently to friends because there are things that are covered or closed and this also continues (if, ed) until (stage, red) investigations," Tessa told reporters quoted on Thursday, September 12.
