JAKARTA - The Indonesian Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas emphasized that there was no intention of delaying in fulfilling the summons of the Special Committee (Pansus) Hajj formed by the Indonesian House of Representatives in the context of evaluating the implementation of the 2024 Hajj. "How come you are delaying (fulfilling the call) is a statement from where. Yes, please ask Mr. Marwan, Mr. Marwan, who spoke to me, why ask me. Ask Mr. Marwan is it true that the Ministry of Religion has postponed it," said Minister of Religion Yaqut when met at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 11. Gus Men, as he is familiarly called, emphasized that his party did not play around with Hajj, from the ministerial level to staff/device status of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN). "We at the Ministry of Religion, this government also don't want anyone to mess with the Hajj. If there is my staff, there is an ASN device in my place, at the Ministry of Religion that is involved, let's do it together. Even if the minister is involved, you know," he said. Gus Men also admitted that until now he had not received any letter regarding his summons to attend directly to the DPR. However, he also emphasized that the absence of the summons was not the reason for his absence from the meeting. He explained that currently his party is working on various tasks and functions of the Ministry of Religion, such as educational, religious, and various other mandatory tasks that are the duties and functions of the Ministry of Religion. "The task of halal certification is very limited in time, educational tasks are also very heavy. There are many tasks, of course we will adjust them. After all, the Special Committee mechanism allows rescheduling. That's why I will also see if there is an invitation letter later, I will see first," he said. Gus Men emphasized that his party is also open to the public, in this case, he wants to open and explain clearly not only to the Hajj Special Committee, but also to the wider community about what happened in the process of organizing the 2024 Hajj. "The explanation that we provide is also public consumption. From the start I said, we all hope that the process at the Special Committee will run objectively, fairly, so we can also explain to the public that way," said Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

Previously, Member of the Special Committee for Hajj of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Marwan Jafar, said that Minister of Religion Yaqut was again absent from the meeting with the Hajj Special Committee on Tuesday (10/9). "We have been absent twice. And we will invite again to attend. Here he is buying time so that the DPR time runs out," he said.
