Toni Tamsil Sentenced To 3 Years And Paid A Fine Of IDR 5,000 In Tin Corruption Cases, KY Conducts Investigation

JAKARTA - Member of the Judicial Commission (KY) Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata said that his party took the initiative to deploy an investigation team to conduct an initial investigation regarding the verdict of the panel of judges at the Pangkalpinang District Court (PN) against the defendant in the tin trading system corruption case, Toni Tamsil. KY also invited the public to report if they found any suspected violations of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH) accompanied by supporting evidence related to the verdict. "The public can report if there are allegations of violations of the judge's code of ethics accompanied by supporting evidence, so that later the report can be followed up by KY according to existing procedures," Mukti said in his statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, September 10. The panel of judges at the Pangkalpinang District Court sentenced Toni Tamsil to 3 years in prison and paid a court fee of Rp. 5,000. The verdict is lighter than the prosecutor's demand, namely imprisonment of 3 years and 6 months and a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison. “Until now, a complete copy of the verdict from case Number 6/Pid.Sus-TPK/PN Pgp which was read out on August 29, 2024 has not been received by KY,” added Mukti. The KY spokesman explained that the case involving Toni Tamsil was not the subject of a corruption case, but an obstruction to justice. Toni Tamsil deliberately prevented, obstructed, or thwarted directly or indirectly the investigation into corruption cases in tin commodity trading in the Mining Business Permit (IUP) area of PT Timah, Tbk. 2015 – 2022. " “ Ia (Toni Tamsil) is considered to have prevented and obstructed the investigation process, and provided incorrect information as a witness in the corruption crime in the tin commodity trading system," said Mukti.

To note, Toni Tamsil is the younger brother of Tamron Tamsil alias Aon as the beneficial owner or owner of the benefits of CV Venus Inti Perkasa (VIP) who is also a suspect in the tin corruption case.
