JAKARTA - The House of Representatives (DPR) will ratify Iffa Rosita as a member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) replacing Hasyim Asy'ari who was dishonorably dismissed due to immoral acts.

Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Ahmad Doli Kurnia stated that the DPR had carried out a series of processes before the ratification of Iffa Rosita as a member of the KPU.

"Yes, it was ratified today. I was present at the plenary session to read out the results of Commission II's decision regarding the interim shift of brother Hasyim Asy'ari. We have carried out this process even two or three weeks ago," said Doli, Tuesday, September 10.

Doli explained that Commission II of the DPR had invited Iffa Rosita to ensure her willingness to become a member of the KPU. Currently, Iffa Rosita is still a member of the East Kalimantan KPU.

"We need to confirm the choice of sister Iffa, whether we want to stay in East Kalimantan or join the KPU (central). At that time, sister Iffa emphasized that she was willing, so we decided to convey this to the leadership of the DPR. Today it is scheduled to be read out and become a plenary decision, "explained Doli.

After being ratified in the DPR plenary session, the DPR leadership will send a letter to President Joko Widodo to inaugurate Iffa Rosita as a member of the KPU, replacing Hasyim Asy'ari.

"The next process, the leadership of the DPR will send a letter to the president to follow up on the previous presidential letter. Sister Iffa, we are processing it because of a letter from the president. After this, we will ask the president to immediately inaugurate it. Once inaugurated, he will automatically join as the new KPU commissioner," added Doli.

In addition to the ratification of Iffa Rosita, the plenary session of the DPR will also decide the results of the fit and proper test for candidates for Supreme Court justices and ad hoc HAM judges for 2024, fit and proper tests for prospective members of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for the period 2024-2029, as well as the determination of the membership of the special committee (pansus) for the Draft Law (RUU) on Airspace Management.
